Children stunting rate reach 40.1% because of poor sanitation in Papua

Papua still faces the problem of Open Defecation. The province has 3,091,000 population, of which 313,395 are children, but only 49.06% of its population has access to improved sanitation.

37.6% has no access to a toilet at all. School toilet facilities regarded as being in good condition only reach 19.70%.

The effect of poor sanitation contributes to the death of children in Papua up to 54 per 1,000 child birth and diarrhea incidence rate of 4.10% in children. Poor sanitation in Papua also contributes to a stunting rate of 40.1% in children.
