Saya merupakan Tinju Tinja Squad asal Purworejo. Beberapa waktu silam - saat libur sekolah - saya dan teman saya mengadakan sosialisasi di dua desa di pelosok Kabupaten Purworejo. Dalam pelaksanannya, kami harus bolak-balik - dari Purworejo kota hingga di pelosok desa di balik bukit - selama empat hari.


Ketika saya pergi ke sebuah desa, saya mendapati beberapa jamban tak layak pakai di pinggir sungai. Yang lebih parah lagi, anak-anak hingga orang dewasa menggunakan sungai untuk berenang, mandi, dan mencuci. Padahal, air tersebut sudah tercampur oleh tinja mereka dan sampah yang dibuang oleh warga sekitar. Tak hanya di satu RT saja, kali tersebut mengaliri beberapa RT dan banyak diantara warganya yang menggunakannya untuk BAB, mandi, mencuci, dan berenang.

Oleh karena itu, saya dan teman saya berinisiatif melakukan sosialisasi di sebuah RT di desa tersebut. Ketika meminta izin pada Kepala RT, beliau memaparkan fakta bahwa di RW tersebut hanya ada dua sampai tiga jamban saja yang layak pakai. Selain itu, masyarakatnya melakukan BABS dan aktivitas lain di sungai yang tercemar.

Ketika melakukan sosialisasi, respon yang ditunjukan masyarakatnya sungguh tak terduga. Saya sangat menyayangkan warga RT tersebut yang mengaku tidak pernah BABS, mandi, dan mecuci di sungai, padahal fakta lapangan menunjukkan warga yang melakukan MCK di sungai yang tercemar tersebut.

Inilah tantangan saya dalam meyakinkan mereka untuk merubah hidup menjadi lebih sehat. Akan dibangun jamban di desa mereka untuk beberapa waktu mendatang, dan saya berharap dengan adanya jamban tersebut dalam merubah pola hidup mereka menjadi lebih sehat dan terbebas dari BABS.
