Kecamatan Suruh terletak di Kabupaten Semarang, Provinsi Jawa Tengah. Menduduki peringkat ke-11 sebagai desa dengan 969 KK yang masih Buang Air Besar Sembarangan, dari 19 desa yang ada (STBM Indonesia, 2017). Didukung dengan kondisi geografis berupa area perbukitan dan pegunungan menjadikan masyarakat di kecamatan ini terbiasa dengan kondisi masyarakat yang BABS. Baik di sungai, perkebunan, persawahan atau saluran pembuangan tinja yang dialirkan langsung ke sungai.

Kurangnya kesadaran masyarakat menjadikan perilaku BABS enggan mentas dari Kecamatan Suruh. Padahal perilaku ini erat kaitannya dengan penyakit diare. Ironisnya mayoritas masyarakat di desa tidak tahu bahwa pada tahun 2014, jumlah penderita diare yang ditemukan dan ditangani di Kabupaten Semarang melebihi angka estimasi dan melebihi target yang ditentukan! Bila dari perhitungan, diperolah estimasi penderita diare sebanyak 21.174 kasus, maka secara riil ditemukan penderita diare sebanyak 22.975 kasus (108,5 %) (Profil Kesehatan Kabupaten Semarang, 2014). Tentu saja banyaknya angka kesakitan tersebut merupakan dampak dari perilaku “ngising sak nggon-nggon”.

Berbagai upaya dilakukan salah satunya dengan Pemicuan untuk menunjukkan kepada masyarakat bagaimana tinja mampu merusak kesehatan hingga ke generasi berikutnya. Salah satunya yang dilakukan di Desa Purworejo, Kecamatan Suruh, Kabupaten Semarang, Jawa Tengah.

Oleh karena itu kami sepakat untuk #TinjuTinja menuju Masyarakat Kecamatan Suruh Bebas BABS Tahun 2018.
